Set Ringtone in Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap the Sounds section. If you don't see a section with Sound in the title, type "Ringtone" into the search bar at the top of your Settings app.
  3. Tap Phone ringtone.
  4. If you get an "Open with" or "Complete action using" prompt, select the system's Sound Picker app instead of a file manager.
  5. Tap the custom ringtone you added to the ringtones folder.
  6. Tap Save or OK. If you do not see these options on your device, simply tap the back button to exit the ringtone picker.

How to apply a custom ringtone to a contact

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Tap the contact you wish to set a custom ringtone for.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner.
  4. Tap Set ringtone.
  5. Select the custom ringtone you added to the ringtones folder.
  6. Tap Save or OK. If you do not see these options on your device, simply tap the back button to exit the ringtone picker.

 

Set Ringtone in iPhone

Once you have found and downloaded a ringtone you would like to use on your iPhone, you can follow these steps:

 

  1. Open the GarageBand app on your phone and select the default Keyboard mode to start a new project.

    If you don’t have the app on your phone you can get it for free from the App Store here.

  2. Tap the lines button in the top left corner to get the Tracks view.

  3. Tap the loop icon in the top right corner.

  4. Tap Files to get to the file browser.

  5. Choose “Browse items from the Files app” at the bottom of the screen.

  6. On the next screen Choose “Browse” at the bottom and then “On My Phone”. You may have to tap "Browse" twice to see the "On my phone" option.

     

    You may also be able to find your ringtone file in the Recent tab.

  1. Then select the ringtone file you want.

    Tap the ringtone you want to set.

  3. Drag and drop the ringtone file into your track timeline.

    Then tap My Songs in the dropdown.

  4. On this screen tap Select in the top right corner.

  5.  Long press "My song" to open the actions menu and select share.

     



     

  6. On the share options screen choose Ringtone.

  7. On this screen you can name your ringtone and then tap Export.

    Voilá! You have a new ringtone on your phone. In this final dialog you can choose to set it right away as your ringtone or message tone. You can also go through sound settings and find your new ringtone there. It's a wrap!
